project details
Rausch was the structural steel, rebar, and concrete subcontractor to Aldridge Electric on this streetscape improvement project. We were responsible for the removal and replacement of sidewalks, driveways, and concrete planters, as well as the rehabilitation of all vaulted sidewalks along Wabash Avenue.
There are four types of vault construction occurring on Wabash Ave, as follows:
- Complete Reconstruction
- Demolition of the existing vaulted structural slab and structural steel framing
- Installation of new structural steel framing
- Installation of structural deck and sidewalk
- Partial Reconstruction
- Demolition of the existing vaulted structural slab, while retaining some of the structural elements
- Installation of new structural deck and sidewalk
- Topping Removal
- Demolition of existing sidewalk and waterproofing only, retaining the existing structural slab
- Installation of new sidewalk
- Vault Abandonment
- Demolition of the existing vaulted structural slab and structural steel framing
- Construction of a retaining wall along the building line, backfilling the existing vaulted area
- Installation of new sidewalk
Our entire scope of work was carefully coordinated with the continuous vehicular traffic, as well as the pedestrian traffic, as all adjacent buildings remained open.
