NICTD Replacement of East Bank Sheet Pile Retaining Wall Over Burns Harbor, Portage, IN

This Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District project consisted of rehabilitation of existing retaining walls under an active railroad bridge in the Burns Harbor waterway. On the east bank of the waterway, the sheet pile wall was completely replaced, and on the west bank stone rip rap was installed to prevent the existing sheet pile wall from collapsing.

Wabash Avenue Underbridge Connection and Riverwalk, Chicago, IL

This Chicago Department of Transportation project is the longest phase let to date of the Chicago Riverwalk. The project limits extend from State Street Bridge past Wabash Avenue Bridge towards Michigan Avenue. This project interfaces with the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, another CDOT project built by Rausch Construction Forces in 2005. Work includes demolition of adjacent landscaping, sidewalks, sheet pile caps and lighting to prepare for the new riverwalk. New construction consists of sheet piling, hardscape, landscape, underground utilities and lighting improvements.

Cherry Avenue Bridge, Chicago, IL

This Chicago Department of Transportation project entails the rehabilitation of the Cherry Avenue Bridge over North Canal. The scope of the work includes structural steel repairs and restoration, new deck and railings, painting, new lighting, new sidewalks and approaches.

Wabash Avenue Improvement Project, Chicago, IL

Timeframe: June 2007 – February 2009

The Wabash Avenue Streetscape projects spans from Wacker Drive to Harrison Street. This improvement project includes elements to enhance the pedestrian walkways, increase traffic safety, and to improve the overall aesthetics of the area.

East Jackson Drive Bridge, Chicago, IL

Timeframe: November 2007 – February 2009

This project consists of the construction of a new structural steel and concrete bridge on Jackson Avenue over the Metra tracks, between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Avenue. Work included the demolition of existing structures and pavement, and the construction of new foundations, piers, abutments, bridge superstructure, precast balustrade, sidewalks, pavement, curbs, gutters, drainage system, electrical ducts, wiring and lighting, and Metra stairs. The Chicago Department of Transportation awarded Rausch Construction with the honor of Structural Contractor of the Year for 2008, for Rausch’s efforts on this project.
