Bob the Builder Makes an Appearance at the Chicago Riverwalk
February 6, 2009
On February 6, 2009, the famous cartoon construction character “Bob the Builder” made a visit to the Chicago area. Bob the Builder was excited to spend the day at the Chicago Department of Transportation’s Wabash Avenue Underbridge Connection and Riverwalk. As Rausch Construction crew members labored away demolishing the exisiting riverwall, forming concrete, and hanging rebar, Bob honored the team with a surprise appearance. He lifted the spirits of the Rausch Construction crew and gave the members of the team not only an opportunity for photographs, but also some firsthand assistance on a few construction tasks. Rausch Project Engineer, Matt Kovalsky, says, “Bob was very eager to jump in and learn the tasks of a Chicago Union Carpenter, leading our tradesmen in hammering and measuring during the construction of the concrete formwork.”
